Carl founded Carl W. Stern Associates LLC after his retirement from Goldman Sachs, where he served as vice chairman of the Investment Banking Division. Prior to Goldman Sachs he spent 37 years with The Boston Consulting Group (BCG) where he served as president and CEO for six years and chairman for eight years. Carl serves on the boards of the Initiative for a Competitive Inner City and the World Food Program – USA. He is a trustee of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and Rush University Medical Center, and a member of The Commercial Club of Chicago and the Chicago Club. Carl served in the U.S. Navy as a lieutenant and earned his BA cum laude in economics from Harvard in 1968 and his MBA from Stanford in 1974.
